Molecular Analysis Platform

The Laboratory of Organic and Bioorganic chemistry has a mutual technical platform of molecular analysis, located on the campus of the University of Haut-Alsace, within the Research institute Jean Baptiste DONNET, Building A, ground floor. It includes two complementary technological nacelles which allow conducting most of the analyses in order to assure the separation and the characterization of molecules of different nature (synthetic, natural and polymer).It leans on an instrumental park of a very high level in spectrometry of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and in Mass Spectrometry (MS) coupled with chromatography. The equipment financing comes mainly from subsidies of the Haut-Rhin General Council, from Mulhouse Alsace Agglomeration or from the Ministry of research under the State-Region plan contract.

Its first role is to supply an analytical support to the researchers of the University of Haut-Alsace, to outside academic members, to regional or national industrialists to contribute the developments of their research activities. It is also accessible to the graduate students of the National Higher School of Chemistry of Mulhouse within the framework of their teaching or internships in laboratory. It also has the role of training and know-how transmission for the entire university staff. The technical team, which manages the platform, consists of expert engineers in the domains of the molecular spectroscopy which bring their expertise with the objective to develop and to implement innovative and adapted analytical methodologies to answer very varied and complex problems of research: determine the structure of organic compounds obtained by chemists; quantify formulations or make the reformulation of complex mixtures; analyze for polymerists the relation between the macroscopic properties of a polymer material with its chemical structure.

The staff has the specific responsibility for certain equipment because of their sharp technical maintenance and the increasing scientific and technical evolution of the instrumentation and the expertise developed within the technical platform.
